OMGGGGG!!!

I am so hooked on this korean drama!!!!

I HOPE THE ENTIRE WEEK IS FILLED WITH TUESDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS!!!
(That is when natnatvip would upload the episode HAHA!)

KPO Cafe Bar

I have always been curious about KPO. It sits quietly under the shades of the trees, across the road from the newly renovated Orchard Central, being isolated by all the big malls.

We decided to have a early dinner at around 5pm at KPO and we were surprised to see that the place is rather empty when we reached.

As the cafe/bar consist of bar tables (where you can sit at the bar counter to have your drinks or food), sofa seats and small wooden table at the sides, the waitress asked us where we would like to sit. When we said we would prefer the sofa seats she told us they are all booked and asked us to sit at the bar without even telling us about the wooden tables.

I mean, how comfortable can it get to sit on those tiny high chairs and eat at the bar counter? So we requested to sit at the wooden tables which we noticed later wards.

After we were seated, they served us ice water. Ice water with particles in it. Ok it is a normal thing to see in kopitiams or some really dirty hawker centers but I have never expected to be served dirty water at KPO.

***

Nevertheless, we ordered a Yorkshire Pizza, Prawn pasta and Deep-fried Chicken Wings to share.

YORKSHIRE PIZZA
SGD 25
(Inclusive of GST and Service Charges)

Thinly crusted pizza topped with thin tender pork slices and mozzarella cheese.

It is surprisingly satisfying and delicious. Well, this is the first time I have ever had pork slices with cheese for a pizza topping so it came as a pleasant surprise!

***

PRAWN PASTA
SGD 19
(Inclusive of GST and Service Charges)

This is the taste of love.
Fresh, juicy prawns with extremely fragrant and creamy pasta sauce.

However, I do feel that the prawns are too little! I rather they give me more prawns at a smaller size ):

Well, in fact, I prefer this to the Crab Linguine at La Cantina in Venezia.

***

DEEP FRIED CHICKEN WINGS
SGD 13
(Inclusive of GST and Service Charges)

I should really shoot myself for ordering this.
After tasting the chicken wings, the first thing that came to my mind is that I paid 13 bucks for a normal plate of chicken wings.

I could have gotten 13 pieces of that from the "techno kopitiam" (TP students should know which coffee shop I am referring to.) downstairs my house.

***
Ambience is surprisingly quiet and peaceful for a place at the Orchard area.
Service... Check out their dirty ice water.
(I shan't be an ass about it anymore since they did change it for me. Hahaha!)
Value wise, it is more to the normal to slightly high for such dishes. Pasta with two prawns at SGD 19 or a few chicken wings at SGD 13? Well, if you love it, it is would not be expensive isn't it so?

Overall, I must say I enjoyed the pizza and pasta!!!

Christmas Dinner - 10 at Claymore

Firstly, so sorry for the late post on 10 at Claymore!! I admit I am a lazy kid. ): I have not even blogged about Azur which I celebrated my birthday at LAST JUNE. Yes, June 2009. Haha!!!

Anyway, I had my Christmas Dinner with my darlings on the 23rd at 10 at Claymore (Pan Pacific Orchard).

There was a 4-dines-for-the-price-of-3 deal going on there for Citibank cardholders so our dinner was pretty cheap compared to other restaurants at other hotels during that festive season.

However, I must say, I was a tad bit disappointed with 10 at Claymore as we chose that place after reading really good reviews for it but when we reached, there wasn't much varieties to choose from. The spread looked like a high tea spread rather than for dinner.

Variety wise, needless to say, The Line at Shangri-la and Carousel at Royal Plaza on Scotts won hands and legs down.

***

SEAFOOD

Mussels, Crabs, Prawns, Oysters.

The prawns are succulent, juicy and fresh. As a prawn lover, I was in heaven.

***

CHEESE

A wide variety of cheese to choose from to go with the crackers and strawberries.
It would be good for white wine drinkers as wines like Sauvignon blanc and Chardonnay goes really well with cheese.

***

COLD CUTS AND SALAD

A wide variety of salads to choose from as well as greens and dressings for you to create your own salad.

Well, I am not really a herbivore.... so pardon me.

Among all of those dishes, some which I tried are:

PASTA SALAD

Pasta with crunchy walnuts and raisins. A great way to start off my meal!

***

HAM PLATTER

Uh. Well, ham!

That's all.

NEXT!

***

MUTTON STEW

This is the mutton stew which is served at the hot food section which I did not have a chance to take a photo because all the waitresses are all staring at me! ):

Well, back to the Mutton stew, I must say, I love it.

The mutton, carrots and potatoes are stewed thoroughly. Savoury and satisfying.

***

FRIED BEEHOON AND THAI GREEN CURRY

OMG. THE GREEN CURRY IS LIKE THE BEST DISH AT THE BUFFET. (Ok other than the super tender turkey and the sweet and sour fish.)

It is so good that it is making me feel uberly hungry right now.

***

SWEET AND SOUR FISH
(I cannot remember what is the exact name)

Other OMG.

OMG and gobbles up everything.

***

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST....

ROSEMARY TURKEY!!!

FANTASTIC TURKEY served by a camera-shy chef. HAHAHA! He was "Arm Chio-ing" (smiling shyly to himself) when I asked to take a photo of him cutting the turkey. Hahahaha!

Anyway, the turkey is one of the best I have tasted. Juicy and Tender meat, Crispy and fragrant skin topped with sour-sweet cranberry sauce and flavourful brown sauce.

Well,
I am a hardcore turkey lover.

***

AND HOW CAN WE FORGET....

THE DESSERTS

Most of the desserts served at the buffet are just so so. Nothing impressive. However, I found a CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON amongst all the mediocre sweets.

WARM APPLE PUDDING

It should be renamed as A PIECE OF HEAVEN.

Warm, Moist, Chocolatey with a perfect touch of Apple.

DESSERTS MAKES ME LOVE CHRISTMAS MORE.

Warm Apple Pudding with Vanilla Sauce

***
Below are some of the photos of the mediocre desserts (hahaha. Sorry I didn't mean to be mean.) so I shall let the photos do the talking. (The true fact is I have nothing much to say about them. OPPS.)

***

Overall, Service was pretty good other than I had to loiter around the turkey station for around 10 minutes before someone went to ask the chef out to cut the turkey. I bet they want to keep the turkey for the buffet the next day that is why they are so discreet about it. HAHAHA!

Oh and they refill your water like almost immediately.

Ambience is just so so as there was a rather huge crowd that night so it was pretty noisy but I shan't expect much during the christmas period! (Even if there are any christmas carols playing, I can't really hear it and there isn't much christmas decorations. Just maybe that rather small christmas tree outside the restaurant.)

We paid SGD 38 each which is pretty worth it but I doubt I would return again unless I have a real craving for any of the OMG dishes as the variety is really limited. What's a buffet when there's a narrow choice?

But oh well,

Loves Warm Apple Pudding! (:

Forehead Reduction

The world of plasticity should come up with forehead reduction procedures. ):

In Venezia with La Cantina

La Cantina in Venezia with my girls early this month because dearest Chip

(Apparently I am Dale... forgive us as this was from secondary school HAHA. Why is she Chip and I am Dale is because when we went London together, I fell sick and she let me take my bath first and tucked me to sleep so she always had this impression that we are going away to sleep in the matchbox. Crazy girl.)
is leaving for Beijing for her 6 months internship with Timesout Beijing! ):

Plus, it's BFF Ong's 22nd birthday!!

La Cantina is a extremely romantic place for first dates and whatever that involves romance. Why?

1) Very quiet crowd - no one really talks loud other than us. I can't help it! Sorry to all those who got disturbed by our failed attempts to speak french.

2) Sunset - Omgs. Beautiful.

3) Beautiful Decor

Oh man. JUST KISS ALREADY.

FOOD

Sauteed Mushrooms

WOOOO LALA. I loved it.
It is an explosion of flavours between garlics, mushrooms and spices.
Mushroom lovers, you would love it.
Cross my heart!

Calamari

Soft yet crispy. Comes with a dipping sauce to make the dish even more flavourful!
I think the starters are already making me full!

Toasted Cereal Bread

If I am not wrong, this is complimentary. It comes with olive oil and balsamic vinegar (I am not really sure) for dipping.

Crab Linguine

My main course for the night!
Chunky crab meat with creamy tomato sauce.

It started off well but ended up being too heavy for a main course. As it is too creamy, you would get tired of it 3/4 through the dish.

Sorry to the filipino waiter, as he asked me if I didn't like my pasta!

Well, it is good but overwhelming.

***

DESSERTS

We ordered a series of desserts as all of us are so craving for some sweet stuffs after such a heavy meal. Well, they are pretty expensive but oh wells, just once in a while! =X

Anyway, some are just ok, not fantastic. So I shall just give short and sweet (tentative) reviews on them!
Well, Just my opinion!!! (SUBJECTIVE K!)

Tiramisu

Uhm. Ohhh-Kayyy only. Haha!!

Pineapple Sorbet

Refreshing!

Orange Sorbet

WOOLALA.

Apple and Cinnamon Tart/Pie

HEAVENLY.

Chocolate Torte

FAIL.

The food portion is pretty big so I suppose you can order to share with your boyfriend/girlfriend/lover/affair partner or whoever you are going with!
